it's all in the way you look at it. sometimes you have to get off the bus and see it displayed on a table all by itself. then you realize for the first time that it has a color, a taste, a shape, a smell. you realize it because the spargel on this table has a different color, taste, shape, and smell then the spargel you've always known. but it's still spargel. and then you notice the sign advertising a spargel festival. and you think "celebrate spargel?" that's right...celebrate spargel.

I'm impressed... I've never had my own office so far!
Offices beat cubicles by a mile.
I don't know exactly what my office is right now. It's not quite an office, and not quite a cubicle. The two sides that face out are all glass, and there is a hallway in front of it--so when we GTAs are in the office, we look like a zoo exhibit. And it's shared by a good number of people.
I think i get carrel come august. a shared carrel. i think that's a step down from a cubicle.
as for the electric pencil sharpener. It's one of the most overrated inventions of all time. Right up there with the electric can opener and "the club." that's unless you are planning an all-out attack on a co-worker or a boss. If that's the case, you need super sharp pencils and a large number of them. that's when the electric sharpener is perfect. Not that I've tested out this scenerio or anything...
did i take my medicine this morning?
